The Norfolk Broads, near Great Yarmouth, are set to host the Three Rivers Race, the premier sailing event on the Norfolk calendar.
This years event, organised by the Horning Sailing Club is scheduled over 4-5th June and will see racing boats compete in a long distance race around the broads.
The competitors will travel over 45 miles on the Bure, Ant and Thurne rivers starting and finishing at Horning. The racers have a 24 hour time limit, in which to complete the race, yet previous events have seen boats finish in under 10 hours.
The boats involved in the race can vary with sailing dinghies, half deckers, broad yacht’s and cruisers all allowed to compete, for what is sure to be an exciting and diverse race.
The race is very popular with Great Yarmouth residents, who line the Broads each year. It’s a great opportunity to get out the picnic basket and relax by the riverside, while watching the event.
