Before you start to worry, Robbie The Robot is not the Arnold Scwarzenegger type of robot, but the fundraising kind. He is the mascot of the Royal Berkshire Hospital’s fundraising project, and this April, thanks to the efforts of one Wokingham man, he’ll be helping raise money for the James Paget hospital.
Dean Bond, a member of the Reading Cycling Club, plans to ride from the RBH in Reading to the James Paget in Yarmouth, a distance of over 190 miles, in order to raise money for both hospitals.
Mr Bond’s father, Michael, was treated at both hospitals, but sadly died last July after an eight-year battle. Dean will honour his father’s memory and pay tribute to the healthcare professionals who helped him by embarking on his epic fundraising journey.
Mr Bond will be joined by his eight year old son, his wife and his sister for the ride, but only Dean will be attempting the full 190 mile trek. To support Dean, visit www.justgiving.com/remember/4821/Michael-Bond
