A new secondary school and sixth form are to be set up in Great Yarmouth.
The Inspiration Trust (which already runs Great Yarmouth Primary Academy) has announced its intentions to set up a new secondary school and sixth form college in the town. It’s hoped that the new “medium-sized school” will do much to assist with finding places for the wealth of pupils in need of a secondary school place in the town. Currently, the Trust is looking at several sites in the town as a possible location for setting up the school.
Ian Burchett, principal of the new institution called Trafalgar College said it was still too early to say which locations were being considered or whether they were new-builds or conversions and that the information was commercially sensitive. Nonetheless, speculation has abounded as to where the school will be placed, including the Northgate Hospital site and M&S in King Street, which will be empty from Christmas. The college will focus on science, technology, engineering and maths – skills Mr Burchett said were lacking in the town.
